As you all know, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake (called the Gorkha earthquake) struck Nepal on April 25. It killed more than 7000 people and injured more than twice as many. This is the most powerful disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal-Bihar earthquake.
Entire villages have been flattened. Thousands of houses in Kathmandu and the rest of Nepal have been destroyed rendering many thousands of people homeless. The tremors were felt as far as India, Bangladesh and China. More than 70 people died in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The earthquake triggered avalanches on Mount Everest, which killed at least 19 people.
A disaster of this magnitude is a rare occurrence. Nepal is a relatively poor country and a next-door neighbor of India. Indian government was the first to rush aid to Nepal. At this time, the Nepali people are in desperate need of material and monetary help. We at IANH can provide monetary support to the agencies that are on the ground helping the Nepali people.
IANH is actively seeking monetary donations from our members and local community to support immediate relief and recovery efforts in Nepal. All donations are tax-deductible and will be utilized exclusively to support Nepal Earthquake victims. We thank you and appreciate your continued patronage of IANH. Click below to donate
